Preparation options
Meat mix
Mix 10 g (1 level scoop) of powder with 20 g of minced meat, fish or hard-boiled egg. Add water if needed to adjust the consistency. Live insects may be added to encourage feeding.
Vegetable mix
Mix 10 g (1 scoop) of powder with 50 g of finely chopped fruit or vegetables.
Soft pellets
Mix 20 g (2 scoops) of powder with 12 mL of water. Add the water gradually to form a firm paste, then roll into small pellets. Always provide fresh water.
Liquid slurry
For syringe feeding or critical care, mix 10 g (1 scoop) of powder with 25 mL of warm water. Leave to stand for 1 minute, then add more water if needed to adjust the consistency. For added palatability, it can be blended 50/50 with a recovery food such as Hill’s a/d™. Serve warm (approximately 30°C) using a large-bore syringe.
Storage: Refrigerate prepared mixes for up to 1 day or freeze for up to 2 weeks.
