Originating from the Southern Island of New Zealand, these beautiful woods are a product of severe weather events in the Southern Alpine Mountains. Landslides in rocky areas with native New Zealand Hardwood Trees lead to the trees being carried down the mountains by glacial rivers. During this journey, the wood undergoes a natural process that removes bark and oils, resulting in a smooth texture. The wood is further purified by the pristine rivers, washing away tannins and oils, making it ideal for aquariums and terrariums.

The clear waters of the untouched rivers not only cleanse but also remove any tannins and oils from the timber. All hardwoods from New Zealand species are sustainably collected under license, heavy, and will sink. They are very low in tannins and will not decay, making them 100% safe for aquariums and terrariums.
